2. Braces or Orthodontics

Metal wires and brackets are used to correct crowded teeth, protruding teeth, gaps, deep bites, cross bites, overbites. This treatment in not just cosmetic but also improves the health of the jaw bones and facial muscles.

Different types of braces:

         a. Metal Braces.

         b. Ceramic braces.

         c. Lingual braces.

         d. Invisible aligners.

Metal braces are regular braces. They are the most economical orthodontic option. Children can opt for coloured florescent elastic bands.

They are tooth coloured braces and hence aesthetic. As the treatment lasts for 1-1 ½ years, many patients opt for ceramic braces.

C. LINGUAL BRACES- The right choice for you

You want straight teeth, teeth that you can be proud of and don’t have to hide; then lingual braces are your choice.

Why Lingual Braces?
Lingual Braces are the real good option for those who want to hide the fact that they are undergoing orthodontic treatment,. These are the most invisible of them all! Lingual braces are strategically placed behind your teeth, so that nothing is seen from the front. You can go ahead smile, floss and brush without a worry. No one will ever know you have braces on.

Lingual Braces Procedure:
We will first take an impression of your teeth and create custom brackets. Sophisticated rapid prototyping and CAD/CAM technologies are used to convert your dental impressions to actual braces. You will have your brand new braces in about six weeks

Advantages of Lingual Braces:

From a purely cosmetic perspective, lingual braces are the best option. Here’s why:

– Complete Anonymity with lingual braces, unless someone asks you to open your mouth and peek inside, they wouldn’t be able to see your braces so no embarrassment of metal being seen when you smile.

– No Worry about Damage: If you are into sports especially contact sports of any kind, you dont have to worry about displacing or breaking your braces.

Disadvantages of Lingual Braces:

– Lingual braces are a customized version of braces, it will take an average of 6 weeks to receive your custom braces.

– Planning ahead will overcome such a disadvantage. Sometimes the positioning of the braces can make it tough to swallow or talk properly but this occurs only in some patients and usually does not last more than a week.

Clear plastic aligners are custom-tailor treatment plan that’s just for you and the most comfortable of all braces. These are an alternative to traditional braces and thet gently shift any misaligned teeth gradually into proper position (without wires and brackets) giving you a lasting, perfect smile.

These clear aligners are made up of high-grade, tough, very durable, non-toxic, hypo-allergenic plastic. Similiar to braces, clear aligners use a gradual force to control tooth movement and are fabricated to fit each individual’s mouth. If a series of aligners are needed, each aligner moves the teeth in increments until the desired movement is achieved.

Aligners are worn for at least 20 hours a day to reach the desired maximum effectiveness. The length of treatment with aligners depends upon the severity of each case. Overall, aligners offer a much shorter treatment than traditional braces.

Advantages of clear aligners

Clear aligners are for patients who want a staright smile but do not want to wear traditional braces. Also it is beneficial for patients with previous orthodontic treatment who want to make minor correction in their smile.

–  Most esthetic orthodontic treatment option.

– Easy to keep clean.

–  They are removable, so it is easier for you to brush and floss after meal.

– Clear aligners are comfortable and less likely to irritate your gums and cheeks.

Braces Vs Invisalign

Both braces and Invisalign were designed to straighten teeth while improving your smile and oral health. Customers first began using Invisalign in 2000, so this treatment does not yet have the same history as braces.

Braces consist of metal brackets being glued to your teeth and tied together by wires and tiny rubber bands. Nowadays, you can get brackets to more closely match your enamel color (making them more discrete) or you can get them in color to make a fashion statement with your mouth!

Invisalign, on the other hand is designed to be invisible. Aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable, BPA-free clear plastic are worn over your teeth to subtly and gently move your teeth. Your specialist will use X-rays, pictures, and impressions to create a precise 3-D image of your teeth and to configure your aligner trays accordingly.
